All About Me
Houston Baptist University Graduation
My name is Hailey Hastings and I am in my sixth year of teaching 5th grade. I am the Science and Social Studies teacher in a three way split at Oakland Elementary. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Texas State University and I just completed my Master degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Houston Baptist University this past August.
A little bit more about me...I grew up in Sealy, Texas (right down the road). I have one sister (Emily), two dogs (Toby & Avery), and a beta fish named Flame. In my free time I love to read books, pin stuff on pinterest, and working out at crossfit caveman. Ice cream and frozen yogurt are my weakness and if I could survive on that alone I would try.

Personal Philosophy of Education
My mom, me & my sister after graduation.
I feel all children want to learn and are capable of doing so. Sometimes, finding the way in which they learn best is the key.
I want to create a classroom environment where students feel safe and are encouraged to take risks. I want them to feel comfortable to step out of their "safe zones" to try new things. This way they will have greater chances for success.
I want to give each and every student that crosses my path a quality education, one that they will remember when they are far beyond elementary school.
I want to teach them skills that they can use throughout their educational careers and beyond.
I am looking forward to a great year with your child hope that we can learn a great deal about each other and from each other.
